Marcellus

Description

The Marcellus Shale, which runs though the mid-Atlantic region from New York to West Virginia, represents one of the most promising energy resources for the United States, both in terms of jobs and economic security.  Developing the Marcellus Shale could put hundreds of thousands of Americans to work, generate billions of dollars in tax revenues and provide the U.S. with an abundant, safe, reliable and environmentally sound energy source for decades.  According to the International Energy Agency’s 2011 World Energy Outlook, we are now entering a global era of natural gas, with the United States standing to be one of the greatest beneficiaries thanks to new technologies such as hydraulic fracturing.
